Definition: Digital self-determination

Digital self-determination is the goal of efforts in a state to be able to help shape digital processes in the state in such a way that the fundamental objectives of the responsible person, companies or authorities in the digital sphere are achieved within the framework of the Swiss legal system.

Digital self-determination is strengthened by data usage concepts that increase control over one's own data. Digital self-determination is the guiding principle behind both the concept of digital sovereignty and the efforts of private individuals (individuals, companies) and public authorities.
