The annual conference connects business, civil society, research and administration with regard to the cross-organizational sharing of data. The Swiss Data Space Forum (SDSF) thus makes an important contribution to the development of trustworthy digital infrastructures in Switzerland. The Swiss Data Alliance organizes the conference in collaboration with digitalswitzerland and other partners.

Following the adoption of motion 22.3890, the Swiss Data Alliance set up an expert group on the "Secondary use of data" in January 2023 to provide technical and practical support for the drafting of the envisaged framework law, including as a sounding board for the Federal Office of Justice. The group is under the patronage of Councillor of States Matthias Michel (FDP/ZG), who submitted the motion to the Council of States.

The inauguration of the Gaia-X Hub Switzerland took place in Zurich on March 25, 2025. The hub is coordinated by the Swiss Data Alliance and ensures that all relevant Gaia-X content is also made available in Switzerland. This includes guidelines, specifications and open source components.
