The inauguration of the Gaia-X Hub Switzerland will take place in Zurich on March 25, 2025. The hub is coordinated by the Swiss Data Alliance and ensures that all relevant Gaia-X content is also made available in Switzerland. This includes guidelines, specifications and open source components.
"The Gaia-X Hub Switzerland supports the development of open, secure and interoperable data spaces," explains André Golliez, President of the Swiss Data Alliance. This is a central concern for the independent think tank.
The Swiss hub was announced at the Gaia-X Summit 2024 in Helsinki. The Swiss Data Alliance subsequently joined the Gaia-X European Association for Data and Cloud AISBL.
The initiators of the Gaia-X Hub Switzerland are Martin Andenmatten and Guido Greber, who are both members of the Swiss Data Alliance 's "Data Spaces Expert Group". "By establishing our own hub, we want to build relationships with other Gaia-X hubs and global data space initiatives in order to make Swiss interests and projects visible and position Switzerland as an opinion leader," he explains. The hub is also intended to strengthen the Swiss data ecosystem and facilitate access to national and international funding programs.
